Day Service: St Mark's Day Service provides day care and social education to people with autism and learning difficulties who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties. Their philosophy is to create a safe secure environment with appropriate boundaries, service around individuals needs and to empower every person to live as independently as possible. Through therapeutic activity based programme and social education with a multi-cultural approach which is based on structured learning which aims to develop individual abilities, social and independent living skills and to decrease the frequency of anxiety related and obsessive behaviour. With a staff ration of 1:2 or 1:1 their staff team will work with high quality standards and their skills and knowledge will constantly be updated through a comprehensive in-house training programme. Outreach Provision: St Mark's offers a specialist outreach service for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Within this service they provide: assessment of the persons ability to make positive choices; flexible and positive support to help people with independence and life skills; emotional support; therapeutic approach; practical advice; dedicated, professional, enthusiastic outreach workers, offering 1:1 support; a quality service which promotes the emotional and social well-being of a person's life; a positive difference to carers' lives, making it possible for the families to have respite.
