Qualifications: BEd. (Hons) Education (Early Years); Diploma in Severe Learning Difficulties (specialisms augmented communications systems, self-injurious behaviours); TEACCH and PECS trained; BSL stage one; Certificate in Deaf Awareness. Examples of work previously undertaken: inset/training days for staff in mainstream and special schools; visiting pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at risk of exclusion, putting visual systems into place and offering support to LSAs; supporting staff setting up an ASD unit in a mainstream school; six 6 week courses for parents via Sussex Autistic Society; on standing select list of training providers for West Sussex Surestart & Early Years Childcare Development Project till re-tendering in 2011 (courses all mainstream: 'Promoting positive behaviour in 0-3 year olds' and 'Developing communication and play in pre-school children'.) Set courses (vis website) run in East Sussex but will run workshops in specific places; support and training available for parents, all teaching staff, care staff and those involved with adults, social workers, church youth workers, etc; 1:1 work (with parent present) for pre-school/young children. All courses suited for toddlers to adults on the autism spectrum (specialisms communication, visual systems, challenging behaviours), most suitable for those with severe learning difficulties and/or children in mainstream primary schools. Some courses are aimed solely for mainstream primary children.
