Main information
Type of service: Assessment, Day schools, Residential schools, Schools
Stratford Lodge is a 38 week (termly) residential and day post 16 community school offering supported education and guidance for approximately nine students (male and female) aged between 16 and 19 years who have Asperger syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette's syndrome and similar conditions. Stratford Lodge is a part of the Cambian Group, one of the United Kingdom's (UK's) leading providers of specialist services in education and care for young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). Stratford Lodge was set up to provide further educational opportunities, beyond Key Stage 4 (KS4), for students unable to access mainstream education independently after completion of their compulsory schooling. It offers a number of individually tailored courses such as travel, essential living skills, work experience and the aim of enabling students to access local colleges to gain nationally recognised qualifications, at the same time preparing students for adulthood by giving them the confidence they were perhaps lacking. Our philosophy and ethos is based upon positive approaches to behaviour change, and an Asperger syndrome-friendly range of strategies that are needs-led and detailed within each individual student's plans. Our young people live in safe, attractive and comfortable accommodation and are accorded a degree of privacy and consideration which safeguards their dignity and enhances their quality of life.
