Sunfield is an independent residential special school and registered charity. We offer education, care, psychology, therapies and family services to children and young people (6-19 years) with severe and complex learning needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We offer: 52 week residential placements, 38 week (with or without additional short breaks) placement and education day provision. At Sunfield we adopt a total communication approach that under pins our students’ learning and development. A structured waking day curriculum offers routine and a learning environment for students. This is supported by an onsite Psychology and Therapies Team offering integrated therapies which include: occupational, music, play, speech and language, and sensory integration therapy. Our Psychology and Therapies Team consists of over 20 professionals including Clinical and Educational Psychologists. On admission to Sunfield every student undergoes a three-month assessment led by our Psychology and Therapies Team. Following this assessment a personalised plan is put in place that spans learning, care, therapy and health targets. We meet regularly with families to discuss outcomes and review plans and targets. Educational type also includes: 38 week provision and Monday to Friday boarding. Extra curriculum also includes: Waking day curriculum, Communication skills and Exercise and leisure.
