Sycamore Trust was formed in 2014 from the successful merger in 2011 of two local charities: Barking and Dagenham Mencap - which provided support for people affected by learning disabilities , and Parents of Autistic Children Together (P.A.C.T) - which provided support for people affected by autism spectrum disorders.
Sycamore Trust provides a range of services which at present include: an extensive range of structured social activities; youth club provision for ages 8-18 ; football and multisports workshops for young people 8-18; indoor play sessions at Kidspace for children up to 12; summer short breaks for children and young people; social groups for young adults and older adults; befriending; information and advice; benefits advice; education information; advocacy; specialised library; quarterly newsletter; training workshops; family social activities; outings/discos; parents/carers support group..
Sycamore Trust runs the SHINE Project to help young people with complex needs aged 16-24 living in Redbridge borough access work experience..
Sycamore Trust also runs the Way2Say group supporting parents of preschool children with communication difficulties, with multidisciplinary professionals training them in the use of the Picture Exchange Communication system (PECS). .
Volunteers may be accepted to work in our services and are given autism training..
