Tailor Ed Foundation aims to teach daily living skills to children with autism aged between 3 and 12 years and living in Edinburgh. We are a charity supported by the Big Lottery Fund and our services are free. Families are provided with resources that will help their child develop the skills they need at home. To achieve this, we provide free home based support tailored to the child and their family. We target a specific daily living skill that presents a challenge at home. The assigned project worker plans an intervention to work on the identified skill, based on how the child learns best and what is practical for the family. We provide support in implementing this plan, working with both the child and the family until the target is achieved. Our goal is reached when the activity is no longer a challenge even without us being there. We also supply teaching materials and one-to-one consultations to parents and carers. In addition, we provide information, workshops and leisure opportunities to families affected by autism. We aim to work collaboratively with other services, such as nurseries or schools, social services, the NHS and other professionals wherever possible and provide professional training to support services when requested.
