The Brier is an all age special school. At Key Stage 1 (KS1) children are educated in the main within units, with integration with main body of the school during play times, assembly and lunch times. There are occasions when the children integrate in preparation for Key Stage 2 (KS2) either into the school or KS2 unit. At KS2 pupils integrate as at KS1, but increase inclusion for music, physical education (PE), at years 5 and 6 will spend 50 per cent of their week in main body of the school or in mainstream if appropriate at Key Stage 3. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) pupils are provided with extra support within classes at The Brier. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
