The Children's Development Centre, Nottingham (CDC)
Main information
Type of service: Child Development Centres (CDC)
The Children's Development Centre offers multidisciplinary assessment, diagnostic and care services to children aged 0-19 who have special needs or are looked after by the Local Authority. There is a monthly autism drop in clinic for which no referral is needed on the morning of the third Wednesday of the month. Short breaks can be offered to children and their families throughout Nottinghamshire who have nursing needs in addition to their autism spectrum disorder. Referrals for short breaks are accepted via Children's Social Workers and are supported by a health assessment of the child's needs. Parents who are concerned that their child may have autism spectrum disorder normally initially visit Community Paediatricians based at six different health centres across the city before possibly being referred to the Centre. The Centre also has an Information Service (see separate record) which provides a wide range of information about disability issues.
