The Dyscovery Centre was set up over 15 years ago by Professor Amanda Kirby to provide services for children and adults with developmental disorders. During this time it has become a specialist and highly respected centre of excellence that provides bespoke clinical services, undertakes research in developmental disorders and offers consultancy services and training at all levels from short courses to Masters degree level. Both clinically and through its research activities the team, led by Dr Alyson Richards, a Chartered Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Educational Psychologist, aims to help individuals with the challenges of living with a developmental disorder. .
The clinical team specialise in assessment and intervention for Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders. All members are State Registered, qualified, experienced in developmental disorders, and adhere to professional standards and Codes of Practice. We specialise in children and adults and take referrals from statutory and voluntary bodies as well as directly from individuals. Dr Richards can provide independent expert reports, visit a client's nursery/school/college and attend tribunals or educational appeal committees..
Please note that The Dyscovery Centre offers a diagnostic service for autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The Centre will also offer support to individuals with ASD where there are motor/co-ordination difficulties.
