The name of the unit for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the ASD Resource Base. The ASD Resource Base is within a mainstream setting. Individualised programmes of study and levels of support are available. The John Frost School is an 11-18 years mixed comprehensive school serving the centre and west of Newport and maintained by the city and county of Newport Local Education Authority. We are a school demonstrating standards of academic achievement in the arts and sporting arenas. Our school serves a range of students from a range of abilities. For GCSE and vocational examinations The John Frost School has shown improvement over the last five years, and this year achieved examination results with over 65% of students achieving at least 5 GCSEs at A*-C. The schools improvement in all key performance indicators have improved year on year, demonstrating an upward trend and the level of attainment of all our students. The John Frost School benefits from a team of teachers and support staff. We are a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural school and we are fortunate to have students that are proud to be part of our success.
