The Liberty Centre
Main information
Type of service: Supported living schemes
The Liberty Centre is a specialist centre for adults who have autism with associated challenging behaviour. Our services include a specialist day centre, outreach, supported living and respite. We offer a safe and friendly environment for our clients as well as use Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) principles to help our clients communicate. The Liberty Centre recognises the importance of having a framework for understanding and responding to the needs of clients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Development of the provision for clients with autism forms part of our company's strategic plan for developing services for individuals with ASD and their families. The Centre addresses the needs of individual clients, aged 16 years and above, who are on the autism spectrum, and who have associated severe learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. We recognise the importance of music therapy to some of our clients and so we have the services of a music therapist who comes in once a week to offer this service to clients who are interested in music. We also offer reflexology for clients who are interested.
