The Monday Club is based at the Peepul Centre, Leicester. The group meet on Monday evenings from 7pm until 9pm. The Peepul Centre provides a warm, safe and friendly base from which planned opportunities are available for the group to improve their social skills and experiences. Currently, The Monday Club is a mixed group of thirty two members. All members are over 18 and recognise that they have Asperger syndrome. The group is supported by two paid staff and volunteers all of whom are knowledgeable and experienced in the field of Asperger syndrome. The Monday Club is an established group who have been meeting on a regular basis since 1997. The group has a very relaxed atmosphere, where members have an opportunity to meet, chat and participate in a range of activities, in a variety of settings. These activities have included: board games at the Peepul Centre; visits to local pubs/cafés/restaurants; ten pin bowling at the local super bowl; pool evenings/music evenings; cooking evenings. All activities are planned in conjunction with members and evaluated afterwards to learn from these experiences and monitor their success and appropriateness. A timetable of events is given to each individual member. Regular breaks are included and all evenings begin and end at the YMCA. The Monday Club has registered with Twitter and so you can now also find out what will be happening at the Monday Club via Twitter.
