The National Autistic Society Centre, Greater London (Coney Hall)
Main information
Type of service: Day services
Our learner support service is based in Coney Hall, near West Wickham. We provide a structured programme with a variety of activities, tailored to meet each individual's ambitions and needs. Our in-house activities include drama, reflexology, art, woodwork, writing skills, using computers, communication sessions, a sensory room and personal support time with our assistant psychologist. Our community-based activities include canoeing, trampolining, horse riding, ten-pin bowling, cycling, pottery, swimming and extensive use of Sandown Further Education College. The college offers classes on a range of subjects, from key skills such as assertiveness, English, mathematics and cookery, to hobby and craft skills such as ceramics, mask-making and pewter work. The Coney Hall learner support service creates opportunities for people with autism and Asperger syndrome to become involved in their community and to meet new people. The centre has its own specialist staff but also benefits from daily direct input provided by our residential staff.
