Autism-specific day service catering for adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), including Asperger syndrome. The service offers a range of leisure, educational, and vocational activities, based in the specialist Atlas centre in Clayton-le-Moors, and out in the community. People with autism and Asperger syndrome are supported to take part in their community, socialise, develop new and existing skills and become more independent. The service uses the Structure, Positive approaches and expectations, Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework and the Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) approach, designed to support people with autism by providing essential structure and giving a means of clear communication. All our services in the North of England are administered from the office in Great Harwood, Lancashire..
