The National Autistic Society Centre, Northamptonshire is based in Irthlingborough and offers programmes to meet individual needs and wishes for people on the autism spectrum. At our Irthlingborough premises we offer social skills, communication and life skills training, plus cookery, information technology (IT), arts and crafts and music sessions. Community activities include swimming, trampolining, bowling, visits to country parks and local leisure amenities and pub and café lunches. The Employment service provides support to individuals seeking employment as well as supporting people into volunteer and work placements. We partner with environmental charity, the Phoenix Resource Centre, to provide volunteer work experience to some of the people who attend our Day Opportunities Service. We partner with Northampton College to provide an Education Service, based at our Irthlingborough premises and in the College itself, for young people who find the transition from school to College challenging. The two-year Moving On programme has the following aims: To support young people with autism to access local education provision; To increase independence and self esteem; To support the development of social skills; and To support the young person to gain qualifications which will support their quality of life in adulthood..
