Main information

Type of service: Day services, Employment services, Social groups, Social skills

The Lynx Resource Centre has been developed by The National Autistic Society (NAS) to offer a range of Vocational Training, Social Enterprise and Sheltered or Supported employment opportunities to adults who are on the autism spectrum. The centre has Open College Network (OCN) accreditation and is able to provide accredited qualifications at achievable levels. In addition to this, the centre is working in partnership with the Primary Care Trust (PCT) to develop their employment service by supporting a small number of people on the spectrum (aged 25 years and over) into employment. Located on an industrial estate, with good transport links, it has a workshop area, equipped to provide woodwork and metal craft training and the space to develop other vocational training activities if required. An Information Technology (IT) suite enables the Centre to offer training in IT skills, social skills, work skills and basic literacy and numeracy. They offer specific individualised support programmes for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to reach their own potential, and facilitate a number of social activity groups in and around the local area, for various age groups and abilities.
