Orpheus is a learning centre in Surrey that increases the confidence and skills of disabled young adults through the Performing Arts. They believe that every young disabled person should have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers. They offer a holistic Learning Programme, a Supported Housing scheme and a Personalised Domiciliary Care service. Students are between the ages of 18 and 25 and have learning difficulties, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or sensory impairments. Students usually stay at the Orpheus Centre for three years. Students learn life skills such as budgeting, meal planning and computer literacy alongside song writing, drama, visual arts, and performance skills. Their students study for City and Guilds qualifications as well as nationally accredited Arts Awards. Everything is focused on maximising lasting independence. Orpheus has transformed the lives of hundreds of young people and their families. Their goal is to give young disabled people the skills and opportunities they need so that they can lead fulfilling and independent lives.
