The Phoenix Centre for Autism is a Specialist Resource
Provision that is part of Cage Green Primary School. The Phoenix Centre is
situated alongside the main school in a new purpose built provision with
facilities which include a therapy room, sensory room, soft play and a
fantastic outdoor learning environment. There are places for 30 pupils in 3
classes. Each teacher is supported by 4 teaching assistants. On entry, each
pupil needs a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education
Health and Care Plan stating that Autism is their primary need. Pupils need to
be verbal and have the cognitive ability to benefit from integration
opportunities in the mainstream school, alongside their chronological peers.
Pupil's access the National Curriculum that is differentiated and modified to
meet their learning needs. Alongside the curriculum, Speech and Language
Therapists and Occupational Therapists provide therapy and programmes to target
communication, behaviour, social and learning skills..
