The Roebuck Centre
Main information
Type of service: Day services, Employment services, Outreach
Service URL: http://www.autismsussex.org.uk
Those using the service, live in the Autism Sussex
Residential, Group Homes and Supported Living Services. People using the
service also live independently in the Community or with their families and may
be supported by our Community/Outreach Team. The Roebuck and Outreach Team work
closely with carers to provide a reliable service and consistency of approach.
The overall aim of the service is to recognise and respond to the particular
needs of people with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) by creating an
environment which allows them to participate as fully as possible in a range of
needs-led activities. A majority of the individuals we work with will require
some level of support throughout their lives and without the specialist
support, further education and employment opportunities are likely to be out of
reach for most of them. Therefore the emphasis is to identify, develop and
equip individuals with the skills required to lead as independent a life as
possible. We are offering a supported employment service called Training,
Realistic, Autism, Inclusion, Networking (TRAIN). We offer job coaches and a supported
internship course in liaison with a local further education (FE) College. We
are also an Enterprise Centre enabling adults with autism to become
self-employed whilst building and developing businesses including food
production and sales, ceramics and graphics and animation. The Roebuck Centre
is a service committed to growth. Record Type: Advocacy (General), Counsellor,
Day services, Employment services, Outreach, Befriending/mentoring, Family
support and information services, Local groups, Social groups, Social skills,
Accredited courses, Courses, Events and exhibitions, Seminars and workshops and
