Type of service: Assessment, Diagnostic services
This is a multi-disciplinary assessment and diagnostic service for children and adults. The assessment is completed by a Clinical Psychologist and Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and information is sought from school/college etc. if appropriate to inform decision making. The service has strong links to professionals in other fields (Psychiatry/Occupational Therapy/Educational Psychology/Paediatrics) should input be required. A full written report is provided including a wide range of individualised recommendations according to the needs of the person in question. The service is able to provide post-diagnostic clinical psychology support and/or refer on to recommended services for other types of support.
Assessment procedure: Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) 3Di Conners Sensory Profile - 2 Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF) - 4 Other Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) assessments, such as the Expression, Reception and Recall of Narrative Instrument (ERRNI), Test of Word Knowledge (TOWK). Renfew Tests are chosen depending upon age and appropriateness.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes. Clinical Psychology and Speech and Language Therapy. We have good links with local Occupational Therapy, Paediatrics and Educational Psychologists should consultation be required to inform decision making.
