Thornfield Grange

Main information

Type of service: Hospital services

Thornfield Grange is a 10 bed residential autism service which has been developed to meet the needs of those who may have been in acute services and who now require the next step to supported living. Located in the heart of the community of Bishop Auckland, County Durham, the service is for individuals on the autism spectrum with associated complex needs who require a friendly and educational environment. The service provides a variety of opportunities to develop skills, confidence and self-esteem to lead to a more independent lifestyle. Person-centred plans are the foundation on which all therapeutic interventions and outcomes are based. With support from their named nurse, family, advocacy service and all relevant professionals, the individual can express their needs and wishes. The service users are at the centre of what we do. Following assessment each individual has a person-centred plan which is then continually reviewed through the CPA process. We are available for planned and rapid access referral advice seven days a week. We also welcome visits from service users, parents and carers as well as professionals.
