Transitions is a joint project between The National Autistic Society and Inspire. It has been fully funded by the Scottish Government and will be free to schools within Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. Transitions will allow NAS and Inspire staff to deliver specifically designed modules to second year pupils and above, who have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)..
Modules include autism and Asperger awareness, emotion management, transition options and further education opportunities. Transitions will also include aspects of the NAS Socialeyes resource. Socialeyes concentrates on eight social skills that people with an ASD may have difficulty with and provides them with social interaction skills and strategies to deal with these. Pupils also have the option to join a social group.
