The name of the unit for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the Treetops School applied behaviour analysis (ABA) unit. Treetops is a school for children with moderate learning difficulties (MLD) (range of needs). We do have specialist units for children with autism who are not able to access group teaching. They are taught on a 1:1 basis using the theory of ABA. The school caters for children aged 3-19 years, and run specialist provision throughout the school. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses aspects of the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Another intervention, approach and programme offered by the school is signalong.
