Uffculme School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
Uffculme School caters for students aged 3-19 years who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) outlining that the primary diagnosis is autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The school covers the entire range of ASD, ie non-verbal with classical autism to verbally able with high-functioning ASD or Asperger syndrome. The development of emotional well-being, social communication, social interaction and independence skills is central to the school’s ethos. Highly specific assessments (developed at the school) identify each student’s strengths and weaknesses which form the basis for their individual education plan. The plan – including levels of environmental and programme support – is summarised in an educational ‘passport’ which is updated annually. Additionally, the Individual Education Plans (IEPs) focus on the Triad of Impairment and emotional well-being. Uffculme School has achieved three consecutive 'Outstanding' judgements from OFSTED and prides itself on providing high quality education for youngsters with ASD.
