Vassall Road
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Vassall Road is a small residential home supporting six service users with learning disabilities, which caters for people with additional needs such as epilepsy, autism and sight impairment. Staff are trained to care for these needs and try to maintain one-to-one time with each resident and will go out with them to do activities of their choice, along with supporting employment opportunities and lifestyle planning. The home has a communications board which identify what people are doing and when they are doing it using pictures or symbols for activities etc. There is also a house car leased by service users. The home encourages strong family contact and residents regularly go home to visit relatives. Families are also welcome to visit the house whenever they wish to. One service user is very keen on keeping pets and has several. Bedrooms are maintained by service users with support from staff to demonstrate individual taste and characteristics. Each service user has a Keyworker who ensures needs are met through care planning and risk assessment. Care is focused on person centred approaches and well-being. The home has a very established care team who are skilled at recognising or facilitating service user needs and advocate strongly on service users behalf.
