Type of service: Diagnostic services, Child Development Centres (CDC)

This is a specialist secondary referral service for children where there are concerns about their development, social interaction, and certain types of behaviours or disability. Referrals are received from the GPs, Hospital Consultants and Allied Health Professionals. Referrals are also received from specified Local Authority staff, Children's Social Care and the Police for particular types of cases. The service is offered from the Child Development Centre at Orford and from some peripheral clinics. Services are also offered in some special schools.
