The name of the unit for children with special needs is the Specialist Learning Centre. This is a school with a centre for intensive support for literacy and numeracy in the mornings. Children then move to mainstream for the rest of the school day. Children with high functioning autism stay in mainstream full time with support. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
