Wolverhampton Information, Advice and Support Service for SEN and Disabilities
Main information
Type of service: Parent partnerships, Parent partnerships
We are a statutory service providing impartial information, advice and support to parents and carers of/and children and young people with special educational needs and other additional needs. The support that you can access from us is free, confidential and impartial. Through our confidential service, parents, carers, children and young people can access impartial information, advice and support about all aspects of their or their child's special educational needs (SEN). We help parents, carers, children and young people to feel more confident in taking an active role in the discussion and planning of how their or their child's individual needs are met, particularly in schools. We encourage and support parent participation so that parents and carers are involved in the development of local services for families of children and young people with additional needs. We promote positive partnerships between parents, schools, the Local Authority (LA) and other services. We provide other areas of support to parents and carers: Exclusion support for parents, carers of/and children and young people with SEN whose child has been excluded from school or is at risk of exclusion. This service is also available to parents and carers who are concerned about their child's behaviour. We have a dedicated Parent Participation Assistant who supports Voice4Parents Wolverhampton, our local parent forum..
