Woodfield School, Brent
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
Woodfield is a secondary school for moderate learning disabilities (MLD), severe learning disabilities (SLD) and complex including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Pupils are aged from 11-19 years. We have a 16+ provision. Pupils with ASD are educated in mainstream classes and in small groups with other ASD pupils. The provision is flexible and on a "needs" basis. The school uses a variety of approaches to support the pupils with ASD including: Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Speech And Language Therapy (SALT), drama therapy and social stories. There are many strong home-school links as well as links with B.O.A.T. and local schools. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. A sensory room is planned for the future. We do not have a swimming pool on site. We offer swimming to all students but we have to travel to a local pool.
