Woodlands School, Surrey is a special school for pupils aged 2 to 19 years with severe learning difficulties (SLD). Both the nursery and further education unit take pupils with a wider range of problems. Early years intervention and assessment help to prepare some pupils for either time in a mainstream school, or alternative forms of special education. It strives to recognise and meet the individual needs of every pupil in all aspects of life and learning, through a professional, caring approach. The atmosphere is calm but stimulating and pupils are prepared to become active and valued members of the community. The school strives to continually improve the service it offers by encouraging an open minded and flexible attitude, which actively seeks out new initiatives and critically examines both these and current practices in order always to select the best available approaches. Woodlands delivers a curriculum which aims to give pupils a broad range of quality experiences that leads them through the developmental stages of life so helping them to grow up.
