Woodley School and College
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
Woodley School is a local authority special school for 140 children aged 4-16 years. The children attending Woodley School all have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). The children currently attending Woodley School have complex needs. The designation of Woodley School was changed in April 2015 to specialise in autism for children aged 4-19 years. Currently we have many pupils who have complex needs and not an autism diagnosis. Lydgate School are currently refurbishing the ex-Almondbury Junior School building to meet the needs of 164 pupils with complex needs 5-16 years. The new school - Southgate School - opened in September 2016. Some of the pupils from Woodley School will transfer to Southgate School when it opens. We have plans in place to continue to develop our expertise in teaching pupils with autism. We will share them on our website as they develop.
