The Worcestershire Association of Carers helps carers by providing information, support, and social activities for carers. The Information Helpline provides information on benefits. on local and national organisations and services and on Worcestershire carer support groups. The Association has a 24/7 helpline that can be accessed on 0300 012 4274. The Association has a limited amount of funds to purchase short-term planned respite cover to allow carers to leave their cared-for with professional care. The Carers Emergency Card for carers and cared-for person provides an emergency contact service should a carer become incapacitated or a cared-for person need assistance or become lost. Staff and trustees attend liaison and planning meetings of health and social services to present the carers perspective. The GP Carer's Registration Card ensures that patient GP notes record the caring role. The number of GP Support Services programme and the number of carers groups available in the county have been increased.
