Main information

Type of service: Day services, Domiciliary services, Residential services, Respite and short breaks, Supported living schemes

Yarrow Housing Ltd has over 25 years' experience of working with people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury and autism spectrum conditions (ASCs), including complex needs and behaviour that could be described as challenging. As well as registered care homes, we also have supported and independent living schemes. Over 70% of the people we support have their own front door. Support from Yarrow ranges from a few hours a week to 24 hour support 365 days of the year. We also work with young people in transition to develop independent living skills so they can move to supported living. We believe in effective two-way communication and use makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and accessible Information Technology (IT) programmes on iPads and touch screens so people can more easily communicate their needs and interests. Our day services are both community and building based and provide both fulltime and part time sessions, aimed at supporting people with employment, education, leisure and meaningful activities that help people develop friendships and relationships which promote community inclusion and independence. Day services that are community based seek to take advantage of London’s rich resources and opportunities. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the service users. Another disability and condition catered for is acquired brain injury.
