Formerly known as "York Parent Partnership Service", from the 1st September 2014, as part of the Special Educational Needs Reforms 2014, this service has been extended to become York SEND Information, Advice and Support Services (IASS). SENDIASS will also provide specialist individual support to parents, carers, children and young people who are involved in an Education, Health Needs and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment. We aim to, help parent/carers, children and young people understand the SEN system and be a part of it. We aim to encourage co-operative working to ensure parents/carers, children and young people views are heard and valued. We help to prevent disagreements developing into major disputes by encouraging and facilitating early discussions between those involved. The team are split between the East and West of the city; please refer to the website for more details. The Service operates an open referral policy so parents and young people can directly access the service by email and telephone..
