NAS Kent Service - Overcliffe
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Service URL: http://www.autism.org.uk
These two houses provide for 12 people with an autism spectrum disorder, of varying ages and abilities. Each service user is encouraged to be as independent as possible, and to participate in all aspects of daily living. The service employs a key-working system whereby every service user has both a key-worker and a co key-worker, ensuring consistency and that needs and choices are met. Regular key-worker meetings and house meetings are held enabling service users to bring up any issues of concern to them. Every individual participates in evening and weekend activities including regular theatre trips, concerts, eating out, and hiking. The Overcliffe houses both have sensory gardens providing peace, tranquillity, stimulation and also home grown fruit and vegetables.
