NAS South Gloucestershire Residential Services - Pinecroft
Main information
Type of service: Residential services
Pinecroft is a specialist residential home that can support up to four men with Asperger syndrome or high functioning autism who maybe on a conditional discharge or community treatment order under the Mental Health Act 1983. Our aim is to help individuals lead as independent a life as possible, and create a safe and secure place in which to live. Pinecroft is located just outside a small village on the outskirts of Bristol. Positioned near local amenities and bus routes, the house is situated three miles from a major shopping complex and is within easy reach of Bristol city centre. Individuals are encouraged to make their rooms their own by choosing the decor and accessories. There are shared rooms including two lounge areas, a kitchen diner, a light and airy conservatory and a large garden. .
Each individual has a person-centred plan and a structured timetable is produced around this taking account of the individuals' needs and aspirations and access to community-based activities. These are reviewed and evaluated regularly with the individual. Individuals are involved in all decisions regarding their home from decorating and food choices to recruitment of staff. The underlying philosophy of our service is to offer high-quality, non-discriminatory care that promotes choice, independence, dignity and autonomy, and enhances people's quality of life. Pinecroft can also arrange psychology sessions, on request to individuals using the service..
Our staff team undertake autism and person-centred planning training and are experienced in working with people with autism spectrum disorders, including Asperger syndrome. Each individual has a person centred planning team chosen by them. Further external support comes from consultant psychiatrists and clinical psychologists as required, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience of Asperger syndrome and challenging behaviour. We use the Care Programme Approach (CPA), regularly reviewing people's individual needs with the input of care co-ordinators. Email: sw.services@nas.org.uk .
