How we work with the Northern Ireland Assembly
For many years, our charity has been rated as one of the most effective disability charities by MPs.
We play an active role in raising awareness of the issues affecting autistic people and their families with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and civil servants.
This includes meeting regularly with civil servants and responding to consultations on policy changes.
We regularly brief Assembly committees and political representatives to ensure that the needs of autistic people and their families are high on the political agenda.
We sit on the All Party Assembly Group for Autism (APAGA). This is a cross party group of MLAs which meets in the Northern Ireland Assembly to discuss issues on autism.
About our campaign work
Since 1962 the National Autistic Society has been campaigning to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people.
