Dr Yo Dunn is a trainer, writer and consultant who provides bespoke training on all aspects of autism - especially for the social care and education sectors. Yo writes primarily on legal and policy topics affecting autistic people, including regular case law reports.
Yo kindly agreed to be interviewed when she attended the National Autistic Society Professional Conference in 2018.
In this interview Yo discusses how autistic adults are affected by the law around mental capacity and deprivation of liberty, and explores how adults who find decision-making difficult can best be supported.
Please note for the question 'Please could you tell us about the current proposals for reform of the deprivation of liberty safeguards in England and how they would affect autistic people?', Yo’s answer is now out of date as the Government published a response to the Law Commission review shortly after our interview.
