Type of service: Residential services

Service consists of three community-based residential care homes for adults with autism. Two adults share a house each, working with a team of staff who support the service users with one staff member to two service users, the houses are linked by a connecting door and service users share a communal patio area and adjoining gardens. There are two members of staff sleeping in each night. All service users have a 24 hour activities programme which have been put together to meet their individual needs. The programme is monitored and assessed constantly to ensure the service users' needs are being met. Service users use community-based activities when possible; they go horse riding, swimming, ten pin bowling, trampolining etc. Some service users go to college once a week or do work experience every week. The houses are owned by West Country Housing Association. Volunteers are accepted at this service. .

This service is provided by Autism Wessex who cater for autism and other developomental disorders, learning disabilities and associated mental health problems. .
