The service provides an assessment and diagnostic service for people with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Referrals are usually made via professionals working with people who have an ASD. Usual assessment procedure consists of face to face interviews with clients, relatives, carers and partners using a selection of formal language and psychological assessments. Multi-disciplinary assessment, including psychiatry and speech and language therapy and nursing. National Health Service (NHS) referrals only. The service is delivered from community venues across the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area. Follow-up services may include: family support, carers support, signposting to post-diagnostic support groups, consultancy and support to other organisations.
Assessment procedure: Face to face interviews with clients and relatives/ carers/ partners. Developmental history, may also involve administration of DISCO, and a selection of formal language and psychological assessments.
Follow up service: Direct Intervention, Family support, Carers support, Signposting to post-diagnostic support groups, Consultancy, Training.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes, Psychiatry, Speech and Language Therapy.
