Their responsibility is to: assess the state of health of the Greater Glasgow population; define the best possible mix of health promotion, prevention of ill health and health services that will improve health; use any money allocated to commission health services from primary care, practitioners, NHS Trusts and other agencies; and work with local authorities and other agencies so that their efforts in social work, housing, employment and environmental improvement best complement the NHS board in improving health.
