Communication Cambridge offers specialist, small group social skills training to young adults with social communciation needs and Autism in the Cambridge area. The programme is comprised of an initial assessment followed by weekly small group sessions delivered in blocks of 12 weeks.
The assessment includes the combination of a standardised social skills assessment and an informal assessment. An individualised social communication profile and recommended targets are provided.
Their social skills groups are developed and delivered by two Speech and Language Therapists (Fiona Scarlett and Sarah Artingstall) within a supportive small group setting (2 adults to 7-10 participants). Each session lasts 90 minutes and is held at a purpose built youth facility in the Chesterton area of Cambridge.
Fiona and Sarah have over 30 years collective experience in the field of Autism and have completed extensive post gratuate training. Sarah has completed an M.Ed in Autism and has worked in a broad range of settings including 3 specialist secondary provisions for students with High Functioning Autism, a National Autistic Society accredited special school and as part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic team for Autism.
Fiona's experience includes working as part of a multi-disciplinary team at Brookside family consultation clinic providing diagnostic assessments (ADOS trained) and support for children with ASD who have significant social communication difficulties and additional behavioural or mental health concerns.
Communication Cambridge can make home visits or visit a client's school or college.
