First Step Nursery
Main information
Type of service: Nursery and pre-schools
The playgroup and Promoting Attention, Communication & Co-operation (PACC) sessions give young children with special needs the opportunity to experience a pre-school setting in a small group of 10 children with 5 qualified staff, ensuring a quality learning environment. All children are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of activities in a stimulating play situation following the Department for Education and Skills guidelines for Early Learning Goals. All children will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). The PACC sessions are for children who are experiencing specific difficulties with attention, communication and co-operation, or those with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). In groups of 6 children with 5 staff, the group uses a structured teaching programme. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
