Prior's Court Training & Development Centre offers autism-specific training for professionals, practitioners and parents working or living with individuals with autism. An annual programme of courses, seminars, workshops and conferences is delivered by a team of experienced practitioners with extensive experience of working with young people with autism. Courses offered range from intensive, practice-based introductory courses to the 5-day TEACCH course or a unique professional development Certificate in Autism, accredited by Cambridge University. A team of consultants provide a consultancy service, delivering autism-specific training in-house to schools, authorities, residential services, individuals and organisations to support best practice across the country. The Training Centre is based at Prior's Court School near Newbury, renowned worldwide as a leading-edge provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with autism and severe and complex learning difficulties. Aiming for the highest quality provision to ensure the pupils’ needs are met and significant progress achieved, the School has created a unique blend of methodologies and best practice known as the Prior Approach, which acts as a toolkit to support pupils in gaining maximum independence and reaching their potential. It is this Approach which is the cornerstone of the training and consultancy services.
