Special Virtuosi
Main information
Type of service: Play and leisure
Special Virtuosi provides a supportive learning environment for people who require extra assistance in pursuing a musical interest. Students with or without previous musical experience can join the workshop sessions or the Special Virtuosi Orchestra. Sessions are held at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, every Thursday evening from 5.15pm. Students attending these sessions can expect to participate with a number of other students and tutors and play as part of a group. Special Virtuosi is currently staffed by over 20 tutors who are also able to offer private tuition in singing, piano, strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. Students can receive these private tuitions from tutors in home or school visits. Special Virtuosi currently works with children and young people with Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger syndrome), dyslexia and cerebral palsy.
