Young Foundations
Main information
Type of service: Fostering, Residential services
Young Foundations provides specialist care for children (age 12 -18) and young adults (age 16 - 25) in seperate children's homes or transitions homes in the north-east and midlands of England, and in Glasgow. We also provide a fostering service for children (age 0 - 18).Young people referred to Young Foundations may have a range of difficulties, including learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, mental health problems and/or emotional and behavioural disorders. Many are clearly on the Autism spectrum, whereas others have unclear or contrasting diagnoses. We work within a social care model, but have our own specialist Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and SEN Teachers to support and guide our care staff and the young people. All of our care staff have minimum NVQ 3, and many have further qualifications in Autism Studies. All of our clinicians have worked extensively with learning disabilities, ASD, mental health, and challenging behaviour. Many of our young people have endured family breakdown and multiple placement breakdowns due to their challenging behaviour and complex needs. A period with Young Foundations reduces those behaviours, and allows young people to step-down into less intensive support environments (supported accommodation, return home, special schools, or mainstream care settings).
